Marc Banion was the number two man. He finally realized that the industry he worked for would risk lives to make money. Paula Banion, Marc's ambitious wife, thought she could dominate her husband by keeping tight control over their sex life. Tracy Parker was young, beautiful, and scrupulously faithful to her husband. . . until she met Marc Banion. Grant Harnak was Marc's boss in the Radar Division. Grant had a radar system of his own which he used to maneuver the traffic in and out of his bedroom. Colonel Bill Cobb refused to let his test pilots take up a plane that wasn't ready. So he flew the test mission himself. * THESE ARE THE PEOPLE YOU READ ABOUT IN THE HEADLINES... They built the supersonic aircraft that helped defend a nation. And the pressure was on to get the F114 up in tire sky — fast! But they were hustling for government contracts, fighting each other for power and weaving a complicated chain of sexual intrigues. They were too busy to worry about building aircraft... So they sent up a plane that wasn't safe enough to fly.
