Exonerated, Hardy had emerged from prison with the pledge that his book would be published and distributed in Australia and everywhere else! Suffice it to say that amateur printers with more will than skill put his manuscript into print; that thousands of Australian women - and men - armed with needles and thread, sewed the printed pages together and bound them between covers; that Hardy's family, neighbors and friends, and his trade-union mates and their families, neighbors and friends, took the sale of his book into their hands. For, to all of these, this was not just a story of Australia - this WAS Australia. So it was, that POWER WITHOUT GLORY reached the bookshelves of the world. It has been translated into dozens of languages and printed in dozens of countries.
