Populations are growing throughout the world and the use of mechanical and electrical appliances and chemicals at home, at work and at leisure, increases the risk of injury. There is an ever-increasing demand for First Aid training for personal use in addition to the demand for certificated First Aiders in industrial, agricultural and commercial establishments. The First Aid Manual is both an instructional and a reference book designed to meet the needs of those interested in First Aid as well as those who require an acknowledged qualification. It provides the necessary material for instructional courses. Great care has been taken in the preparation of the fourth edition of the joint First Aid Manual to obtain the views of many of those who render First Aid and those who see the results of it so as to make the work as universally acceptable as possible. This has involved consultation with leading authorities in many fields and the Voluntary Societies are much indebted for this help.
