From an author whose first novel was hailed by Kirkus Reviews as "surely the most promising debut of the year” comes an absorbing tale of time travel and adventure that whisks us back to the fabled, glorious, doomed city of Atlantis. Jake Bento’s exploratory excursion back to the Bronze Age was expected to be somewhat suicidal death-wish assignment to be undertaken by only the most foolhardy. But four previous expedition teams have gone missing, and now it is up to Bento and the rest of the Argo rescue squad to discover what went wrong. From the moment he arrives—on the first day of a Mediterranean summer, 20,000 years prior to his birth—Bento realizes that the true catastrophe could be his own. For he may be trapped in this past where lowly mortals mix with the Gods themselves, abandoned by the future—his future—and no longer welcome in either.
