A YOUNG KING ON THE BRINK OF A CHANGING WORLD HE CANNOT CONTROL Young George III wanted more than anything to be a good king, but by the late eighteenth century England was no longer a small island nation. George’s brilliant ministers were determined to make her greater still—the most powerful empire the world had ever known. George, the Farmer King—though beset by family scandals so notorious that people in the street sang songs about them—was swept along by England’s soaring destiny. Then tragedy—a terrifying, torturing madnessstruck, leaving the young King vulnerable to the chill winds of great misfortune. Only little Queen Charlotte, the wife he had never loved, remained steadfast. Jean Flaidy unveils a royal tragedy that is all too human, as George—the shining light of a dissolute, reckless family—struggles to hold on to his throne and his sanity. About the Author Jean Plaidy is an extremely popular author who is also known as Victoria Holt and Philippa Carr. She resides in England and has written over twenty novels for Fawcett, including both the Georgian Saga and the Plantagenet Saga series.
