About this book... Dashing illustrations in multimedium collage make use of fabrics, paper, ornaments, and many other unexpected materials, in giving a new visual dimension to this simplified retelling of Carlo Collodi’s classic tale of the puppet who wanted to become a real little boy. This is the ideal introduction to Pinocchio for very young children, who will be eager to follow up this first meeting with a reading of the complete book when they are old enough. Unusual techniques in photography add extra interest to the visual qualities of the book. Other titles uniform with this volume ... The Grateful Crane The poetic legend of a wounded crane who rewards a kind old farm couple. Illustrations combine beautiful three-dimensional settings with daring photographic technique. The Shoemaker and the Elves The most famous story by the Brothers Grimm is charmingly reenacted by dolls and puppets in fairy-tale settings. Illustrations are photographic tableaux in full colour. Jack and the Beanstalk The humour and excitement of this classic English fairy-tale is expressed in vividly photographic full-colour animation sequences. An adventure in creative cinematics. Raintaro The crybaby orphan lad adopted by a kind old lady is really a rain-spirit, who saves the villagers from drought. Powerful illustrations by Daihachi Ohta. Whuff Wants to See Winter The amusing story of a bear cub who does not want to hibernate offers basic information on natural history. Nature paintings in full colour.
